Maverick Cattle Company was established in 2006 by young cattle enthusiast Samuel Hunter, at Bogan Gate, New South Wales, Australia. After several years working with predominantly Red Angus and Angus cattle, the decision was made to start the stud. Foundation females were bought from the 2006 Red Angus National Show and Sale with further females being sourced on farm.

These included 3 old cows with young calves at foot that were purchased from BST Tullatoola and it was from here that the first cattle with the Maverick prefix were registered in 2007. Weewalla Gold Q26 was one of the old cows bought, which resulted in Maverick selling its first bull at the 2008 Red Angus National Show and Sale and its first stud bull in the July of 2008.

Stud owner Samuel Hunter will spend 9 months of 2009 in Canada working within the cattle and more specifically the Red Angus industry. This trip will be a very valuable experience that will no doubt have a very positive impact upon the stud. While also allowing him to gain new ideas and perspectives on Red Angus cattle.

Maverick will breed from a select number of superior quality cows producing calves that exhibit more growth, length, refinement and neck extension as well as being structurally sound and easy doing.
